Celebrating Entrepreneurs!

Strategic Wealth Specialists
Michelle Tice, Financial Representative

The final week of March has been a busy one for my company, Collective Minds. I've spent hours with boss partners uncovering ways to help them expand their businesses and revenue! Getting to know the "why" is important to me in assisting anyone with their marketing needs.

Michelle Tice is a prime example of someone that has deep roots in her career. She began her path to her career as a financial representative much like many of us; as a client. If you take a moment and read her story on my website (click here) you'll discover where her passion for helping others was born.

In the past 10 days Michelle has jumped in to help me assist some of my partners with financial planning. She is sharing tools that will have a definitive impact on the future of these enterprises. If you would like to know more, give her office a call at 251-472-4400.

Ronnie Lee's Automotive Service
Andrew Lee

Meet Andrew Lee, owner of Ronnie Lee's Automotive Service located in Foley. This enterprising young man is catapulting his father's business into the 21st century. Specializing in repair and maintenance work on European autos is what the shop is known for.

Andrew just returned from school in Orlando where he studied the latest technology available to auto mechanics. I can hardly wait to hear about the things that he discovered concerning gas engine cars and electric ones. He purchased a Tesla recently so that he could master this new technology and have an owner's perspective.

Ronnie Lee's is located at 8392-A CR 64

AlaCoast Insurance Agency
Lisa Underwood Harkey

I feel lucky to call Lisa Underwood Harkey a boss partner and more importantly a friend. One of the perks of my career is that I make some incredible acquaintances that turn into lifelong friends.

Lisa is a success story in the arena of female entrepreneurs. She began her insurance agency with zero (0) clients almost 9 years ago and has built it to a thriving business with multiple locations.

We enjoyed a leisurely lunch this week and came to the conclusion that neither one of us could ever return to being a 9 -5 employee. Owning your own business is empowering and gives you the freedom to be creative. I certainly appreciate the wisdom that Lisa readily shares about the ups and downs of being a boss and her path to success. (She really should think about a career as a business coach). AlaCoast Insurance Agency has locations in Mobile & Saraland.

Lindsey & Waldo CPA
Paula Waldo & Richard Lindsey

My two favorite tax accountants, Paula Waldo & Richard Lindsey, are neck deep in tax season right now! You've still got 18 days to get your taxes done or to file for an extension. Check out these tips from Richard's most recent email. If you would like to sign up for his tips click here.

Richard Lindsey's "Real World" Personal Strategy Note Some Perspective on Tax Filing Extensions “It’s really clear that the most precious resource we all have is time.” - Steve Jobs

This time of year there are loads of pull-yourself-together, running-around to-do, deadlines to meet. Kind of like the end-of-year holidays – except IRS style.

With Tax Day looming ahead (Monday, April 18th), we want you to know that we’re here for you all the way to the filing deadline.

Sometimes, no matter how hard you try you just can’t get everything done by the final bell. Filing your tax return can be like that, too. But remember that you can always ask for more time to file your taxes.

Should you? This year, after two years of delayed tax deadlines, Tax Day is back in its old mid-April spot – no extra filing time due to worldwide sickness. Even as we all try to handle complex tax laws, new documents, and reporting requirements, the IRS is still way behind …

Should you jump right to filing for a six-month extension to file (though not to pay) your federal taxes this spring?

Facts and myths People have many wrong ideas about tax-filing extensions. Let’s set some straight:

  • Extensions do not automatically flag you for audit.

  • They do not affect any refund you legitimately have coming.

  • They do not give you more time to fatten up your individual retirement account (unless it’s the self-employed kind).

  • We say again, they do not give you extra time to pay taxes that you owe unless you feel like ponying up the penalties.

  • They’re not hard to get.

You can just ask for one – that’s right, no explanation needed – by filing IRS Form 4868electronically or by paper. There might also be a little figuring about how much tax or estimated tax you should pay at the same time and of course, you should make sure all the information on your 4868 is right. (You’d be stunned what people can get wrong …)

There may be special rules if you’re serving our country in a combat zone or you live outside the U.S. The IRS (and most state governments, too) give extra time to file – and sometimes even pay the tax – if you’re in a federally declared disaster area. Check with us at any time with questions.

Year after year (and again this year, when the IRS has a record-sized amount of returns they still haven’t processed from previous years – though they’re ahead of where they were this time in 2021 …), the IRS insists it’s good to file your taxes as soon as possible. If you expect a refund that you’d like in your pocket ASAP, that is in fact a good idea.

What's New on YouTube?

This week instead of sharing my own videos I want to connect you to some incredible YouTubers that I suggest to folks on a regular basis. Here are a couple of channels and favorite videos that you can watch out this week! Did you know that YouTube is the fastest growing social media platform? Enjoy these incredible folks. There is surely something below that will interest my dear readers!

Be sure to watch Annalisa's most recent video about starting her own business! She identifies many of the distractions that can keep you from being the best you can be. Click here to watch!

I was having coffee with a friend of mine this week who is a professional home organizer. We were elated to discover that we are both fans of Valentina and her husband, Jack. This Atlanta based interior designer has such a fresh approach to creating a comfortable home space. She lived in Europe for years and brings a new perspective to decor. Click here to visit the channel.

Bobby & Desi Parrish have changed the way I shop and cook. Bobby has created an app called Bobby Approved that allows you to scan items in the grocery store to find out if they are healthy or not. I have been stopped more than once at Costco by folks asking me what I'm doing and how to get the free app! (Go to your App Store on your phone and search for Bobby Approved). Click here to check out their channel!

Next week, I'll share some new content on my channel but in the meantime take a look at some wonderful videos we've produced with boss partners, pups and in the kitchen! Click here to view.

I have been reading an eclectic stack of books. Some business related, some are purely for entertainment and others are for personal development. I wanted to share a quote from author Jen Sincero, from her book, You are a Badass at Making Money.

You have to want your dreams more than you want your drama.

Have a beautiful week. ~ Charlsie
