Cooking from Home, Welcome to New Bosses and What's New on the Website!
For the past five months the majority of our meals have originated in our home kitchen. So instead of WFH, let's talk about CFH (cook from home). I am grateful that I had a mom who was adventurous and included me in many of her culinary endeavors. I have yet to find a recipe or a bakery that can match her Red Velvet Cake.
Last weekend I made this unique Cobb Salad with Boiled Shrimp. I'll put the recipe at the end of the blog. This one was floating around social media, however I did make some changes. I am fortunate, living along the Coast, because I have access to fresh Gulf shrimp, crab, oysters and a variety of fish. These are a great foundation for so many delicious meals.
Shout out to Cecil Barnes, owner of Shrimp by the Pound. You'll find him on the corner of Schillinger & Cottage Hill, Wednesday - Sunday. I've been a loyal customer for years.
Aside from boiling the shrimp, this dish took less than 20 minutes to put together. You can sauté the shrimp if you prefer! I'll try to include some tasty ideas every week since it appears that going back to cooking basics is our new normal. Honestly, I love being in the kitchen. It is a great place to funnel my creative energy!
If you are new to CFH, I'd suggest you explore the Food Network. I have found several chefs that have fantastic recipes. It is a great place to expand your palette!
Welcome to New Bosses this Week!
Help me welcome an outstanding groomer, Rebecca Bunkley, owner of Apollo's Paws to meetdaboss.com! Mobile is lucky to have a person skilled in dogs, cats, birds and exotics!
I am looking forward to her photoshoot next week. She plans to have lots of "models" on hand for pictures.
Meanwhile if you are searching for a groomer, she can be reached at:
Her business is located at:
6001 Grelot Road, Unit E (4.85 mi)
Mobile, AL 36609
Join me in welcoming Jessica Zoltek of Healthcare Resource Center in Mobile. She specializes in Medicare Insurance.
My first impression of Jessica was the dedication that she has to her clients. She takes time to assist her customers beyond the scope of her business description.
Everyone needs an advocate in their corner when it comes to healthcare and insurance. She has the experience and the heart to help people navigate the confusing world of medicare supplemental insurance.
In addition to medicare, she works with people in the military and individuals who have been disabled.
You'll be able to read all about her company in September on the website. Meanwhile you can contact her at (251) 751-5434.
Remember that enrollment begins in October, so now is the ideal time to reach out and have your questions answered!
Welcome to the "bosses", Jessica! I am happy to have you as part of the site!
