Lisa Harkey at Cruisin the Coast 2021

Mississippi's largest special event is happening again this weekend! Head over to the Biloxi-Gulfport area and view a record # of collectible cars at Cruisin the Coast. 2021 had over 8,000 registrations for the car event! You'll see everything from the 1950's classics to "rat rods" to Model T Fords. The weather is going to be ideal on Friday, Saturday and Sunday!

The cars cruise along Highway 90 (beach front) from Pass Christian to Pascagoula. There are plenty of places for you to set up an area to watch the "show". Car enthusiasts from 40 states and multiple foreign countries will be on hand for the event!

There is live entertainment offered on stages along the 90 mile stretch of beach. Click here to see the entertainment schedule!

Dad and da' boss dog, Marcello checking out that engine!

The event is dog friendly, however pets are not allowed in the Swap Meet Area. Keep in mind that the pavement around some of the stages can get very hot for their paws. I skipped a live concert for that reason.

There are some special events planned for Super Saturday to celebrate the 25th Anniversary. Check out the Legends of Motown on Saturday evening at Hollywood Casino Resort in Bay St. Louis. This free event includes fireworks and cake!

Parents this is definitely something your older kids would enjoy. They will see cars that are truly works of art! They will also get a kick out of the "burnouts" on Highway 90!

Insider Tip: Bring chairs, drinks, snacks, sunscreen, hats and an umbrella or pop up tent.

The first Mobile Latin Fest kicks off on Friday, October 8th from 5PM to 9PM at Cathedral Square in downtown Mobile. There will be live music, Latin food, dance, crafts, and more. This event is FREE and open to the public. Brought to the community by partnerships with Hispanic Business Association of the Gulf Coast, City of Mobile Parks and Recreation, and Downtown Mobile Alliance.

The City of Semmes is hosting its annual family friendly Fall Festival at Mary G Montgomery School. There will be food trucks, vendors, games, entertainment, a car show with trunk or treat, a petting zoo, pumpkin contests, inflatables, and much more. The festival will end with Fall Movie Night The Haunted Mansion on the football field under the stars at 7:00 p.m.

Last weekend I went to the Foley Art Center's Pop Up Market featuring local artists and craftsmen. If you missed the event, you can see their work at the art center located at 211 N McKenzie St.

After touring the center I headed over to one of my favorite coffee places in town. The Drowsy Poet has a wonderful cafe au lait AND it offers a dog friendly patio if you have your fur-kid along for the day! (By the way, the Art Center also welcomes four-legged guests)! Foley is a canine loving community! This is a fun area to explore if you are in Baldwin County!

Shrimp Basket
Steamed Gulf Shrimp

One of the many perks of living along the Gulf Coast is the delicious seafood. I stopped at The Shrimp Basket in Foley for this beautiful platter of steamed shrimp. I appreciate the fact that they were already deveined! The shrimp cold slaw is legendary and certainly a "don't miss". This location has an outdoor patio that is dog-friendly! Lil' Jack was with me and he enjoyed his fair share of shrimp!

I encourage you to head out this weekend and explore the Gulf Coast. There are plenty of locally owned shops and restaurants for you to enjoy. Everyone can benefit from getting out and playing tourist. I am a huge fan of day trips, especially when I can bring the dogs along. Every dollar you spend locally helps your community!

Next Friday, I'll share more upcoming events, like the Jubilee Festival in Daphne. This is a free two day event in downtown Daphne. I plan to head across the Bay for this one.

Shout out to Rebecca at Apollo's Paws for keeping the boss dogs looking sharp for their adventures. Dr. Sutton commented on how well groomed they were at our recent vet visit! That is high praise for our amazing boss partner! Click here to read why her business is one of the fastest growing in Mobile!

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend and kick off a remarkable week on Monday! See you next Friday! ~ Charlsie
