Dr. Mike & Jennifer Bucknell of REDBAR Espresso, Grisham is Back, New on YouTube & Local Events!

Restaurant on Old Shell Road, Mobile, AL
REDBAR Espresso & Market

REDBAR Espresso & Market is one of the newest dining options in West Mobile. It is located on Old Shell Road, a block off of Schillinger. This spacious and inviting eating destination offers heavenly coffee, tea, and a wonderful bar. There is a delightful menu with options to please even the most discerning palate. Dine in, pick up or drive thru available and it is pet friendly on the patio!

Dr. Mike Bucknell & his lovely wife, Jennifer, opened the REDBAR Espresso & Market at its new location last fall. Their philosophy is to "feed" you as if you were family!

Healthy yet delicious choices are what you'll find on the menu. In fact, I heard that there are going to be some very exciting changes coming soon to my favorite coffee destination! I can hardly wait to share the details with you.

Until then, why not plan to have Sunday brunch at REDBAR this weekend? They are offering a special on their Mimosa pitchers for only $15. Wow that is a steal of a deal!

7681 Old Shell Road, Suite A

Opens at 8AM on Sunday!

In the Book Corner!

Typically I read nonfiction, however I do give myself a break and dive into interesting fiction. I've been a fan of Mississippi native, John Grisham for years. I recall reading The Street Lawyer decades ago and became hooked on his legal thriller novels. Can you believe that this former lawyer and MS House of Representative has written 50 books since 1989? He is one of three writers who have sold over two million copies on the first printing. JK Rowling and Tom Clancy also reached this milestone.

The Boys from Biloxi takes place on the Gulf Coast and explores corruption on both sides of the law. Of course there are dramatic court room scenes and very unexpected plot twists. I definitely recommend binge reading this one! Available online, at your local library and book stores everywhere!

It left me wondering, could this really be true? Is this based on real events?

What's New on YouTube?

This week kicks off a new playlist of Heavenly Handhelds! I'll be sharing my favorite sandwiches, sliders, wraps, and more this spring! I am kicking it off with my take on a great ham-n-cheese. In this episode, you'll see how I make a delicious New Orleans style po-boy and a hot-grilled panini. You may ask, "how hard can it be to make a ham & cheese"? Well, anyone can do it, however there are a few key things that will make it into a memorable meal! Click here to watch this fun video!

A huge thanks to everyone who is subscribed to the channel (it's free) and hats off to all of you who are cooking along with me. A friend of mine was visiting family in California and made my Caesar salad dressing by watching the video! That gives me so much joy! I appreciate all of your support.

The Perks of Shopping Local!

Local garden centers have so much more to offer than the "big box" stores. I encourage you to explore locally owned and operated places because the perks are numerous. First of all you will get EXCELLENT and informed service. These folks know their plants and what will grow in your area. Next, you'll discover unusual plants that you don't see at the national chains. I bought some beautiful lemon sedum ground cover at A Bloom Garden Center that I have never seen anywhere else! It is perfect for a small project I am working on. I wish I could share the excitement my salesperson had about the new shipment arriving this weekend. Her enthusiasm made me want to plan a trip back to shop!

Skip the chain stores and head to locally owned businesses as much as you can. Doing so supports your friends and neighbors!

William Bond Smith, Jr.

As a bonafide "daddy's girl" not a year goes by without me missing this man. Happy Birthday to my first love, William Bond Smith, Jr. I'll be thinking of you on Sunday and everyday for that matter!

I can trace my kindness and eagerness to help others directly back to him. Thank you for being such a shining light in my world.

Have a wonderful week, everyone! ~ Charlsie
