Family, friends and hurricanes

Those of you that know me realize that the past few days I have spent a good deal of time checking up on my family and friends in Louisiana and along the Gulf Coast. Fortunately, only a few went without power. One thing I noted was the great attitude of so many from the Bayou state. I enjoyed the cajun humorist updates on Facebook from Rhonda Faye from "down the bayou". I laughed out loud at the NOLA folks videoing Jim Cantore reporting on the non-storm in the Crescent City. You might see some posts from folks aggravated at the news media for blowing Hurricane Barry out of proportion. Trust me the residents would rather be overly prepared than not ready for a storm. Hurricane Katrina's lessons have not been forgotten. I am grateful that my family and friends weathered this storm well and kept a sense of humor. There are still concerns about flooding and a few folks are running generators to keep their fridge cold. Let's pray that power is restored to everyone and the waters recede rapidly.

I was grateful to find Mobile's beloved weatherman, Alan Sealls has his own YouTube channel. Click here to subscribe it's free! His reporting was factual without any unwanted drama! Mobile got more rain than many folks in South Louisiana! I walked across our front yard on Sunday evening and it felt like a wet sponge. My flowers, herbs and veggies are loving it.
