Spring is Nature's Way of Saying, "Let's Party"!

The title of today's blog was penned by comedian, Robin Williams. April is national HUMOR month so this tribute to one of my favorite entertainers was perfect. He captured the vibrant message of spring and the inspiration that most of us feel as the temperatures warm up.

Personally, I adore the colors that our southern coast exhibits in April. Azaleas are showing off and many annuals bulbs are adding interest to our gardens. Be sure to visit Bellingrath Gardens to explore the beauty of blooming plants in our region.

Folks are spending time in their yards, getting ready to "fire up" the grills and entertain. Southerners understand the importance of "partying" and look forward to opening up their homes to family and friends.

Now that we are spending evening hours on our patios and backyards, it is the perfect opportunity to reach out to my friends at Ensec Pest & Lawn. Eric Ludgate, Clint Killingsworth and their team offer solutions for the challenges that your lawn may be facing. I've seen more than my fair share of fire ant piles this spring. Did you know that Ensec offers a Fire Ant Program & Warranty? Give them a call at 850-204-3813. Ensec uses Integrated Pest Management techniques to provide their clients with long-lasting solutions that are SAFE for your children & pets!

April is a Month for Celebrating!

April 3rd is National Walking Day! The image above provides loads of reasons why you should get out and take a walk today! It is a great stress reliever and gives you a daily dose of Vitamin D! My dogs make sure that I get in a daily walk!

April 11th is National Pet Day! Our pets are a source of joy. Your animals contribute to your physical health and mental well-being. Mark your calendars and plan a special outing with your fur-kids. There are plenty of parks in Mobile and Baldwin counties that are pet-friendly. Pack a picnic and head out to enjoy the beautiful blooms and spring temperatures with your four-footed friends.

April 22nd is Earth Day and there are fun events happening in Mobile County. Click here to check out your options.

Picnic Basket Ideas!

Speaking of packing a picnic...these luscious Chocolate Crinkle Cookies travel well, pair perfectly with fresh fruit and are a satisfying dessert. My granddad always ended every meal with a little something sweet and I believe he would have enjoyed this cookie very much.

What do you pack in your picnic basket? We opt for using an ice chest and that makes filling it with something like tuna salad sandwiches perfectly safe. Check out this recipe for my favorite.

Consider taking this delicious Blueberry & Watermelon Salad on your next outing! It is delicious, easy to make, and so healthy. An ideal option for using fresh blueberries and watermelons!

If you are like me, you've gotten "sticker shock" from eating out lately. I've got an answer for you...learn to cook at home with me! Click here to check out my YouTube channel.

Things to Do on the Gulf Coast!

April is loaded with many opportunities for taking a day trip to enjoy local events happening in neighboring communities.

April 30th is Jazz Day and it coincides with the first weekend of New Orleans Jazz Fest. Click here to visit the official website.

The Seabreeze Jazz Festival begins on April 24th with favorites like Boney James, Marcus Miller and Richard Elliot performing at this Panama City festival. Click here for details.

Looking for something closer to home? Baldwin County has a jam-packed calendar of family friendly events including kite flying at the Battleship, Blue Angels practice sessions and more. Click here for dates.

Mobile County has a healthy calendar of things to do including Swan Lake Ballet on the 10th, Mobile Botanical Garden's 50th Anniversary event on the 11th, and so much more. Click here to explore your opportunities!

Make Sure You are Covered Before You Ride!

My retired cousin has a collective of motorcycles that he takes out on the highway every chance he gets. He won't fire up a "steel pony" without making sure it is fully insured.

Did you know that AlaCoast Insurance agency offers motorcycle coverage? Lisa Harkey, founder of the company has a long history with motorcycles. She knows how important it is to have the right policy for your street machine! Give her office a call at 251-661-4410. Click here to read more about her business.

Have a wonderful month!
