Happy Easter Everyone!
Happy Easter Everyone!

Easter weekend is right around the corner—April 3rd through the 5th—and across the Gulf Coast, plans are already taking shape. From family gatherings and church services to beach days and crawfish boils, it’s a time when people come together and traditions take center stage. In the middle of all the baskets, meals, and last-minute stops, there’s an opportunity most people overlook: where you choose to spend money during a weekend like this actually matters. Choosing local shops for Easter baskets, local markets for your table, and local businesses to host your gatherings isn’t just convenient—it’s intentional. And those small, deliberate choices are what keep our community strong, growing, and connected.

Please note our friends at Redbar Espresso will be open Friday & Saturday, however they will be closed for Easter so the staff can spend time with family and friends.

What's Cooking This Weekend?

With Easter weekend comes the question we all ask—what’s cooking? This year, we’re bringing a few holiday favorites to life in a more personal way. From my mom’s classic yeast rolls (the kind that never last long on the table) to a delicious dessert and a fresh vegetable dish, we’re sharing a few go-to recipes over on our YouTube channel, Cooking with Charlsie. Sometimes the best memories start in the kitchen.

These yeast rolls are melt in your mouth delicious and so easy to make. Surprise your family this weekend with a classic from my mom's kitchen to yours!

It may not be "beautiful" however one bite and you will be sold on this simple dessert. It's a great way to use up French bread that has gotten hard. This is perfect for the holiday weekend.

This wonderful recipe for Brussels will add a level of sophistication to your holiday table this year.

Earth Day is April 22nd!

April also brings Earth Day on the 22nd—a reminder of just how much natural beauty we have right here on the Gulf Coast. From local parks and walking trails to white-sand beaches and blooming gardens, this is the time of year to step outside and take it all in. And the best part? You don’t have to go far to do it. Communities across the area are hosting outdoor festivals, live music, and spring events throughout April and into May, giving you plenty of reasons to get out, explore, and reconnect. It’s simple—fresh air, local experiences, and supporting the places that make where we live feel like home.

Here are a few upcoming local events:

  • MoparFest at the Battleship (April 24, USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park): Car show featuring Chrysler/Jeep/Mopar vehicles.

  • Date Night Scavenger Hunt Mobile (May 1-31, Let's Roam): Couples-oriented activity exploring downtown/National Maritime Museum area.

  • Spring Fling | April 11

Grab your boots and fans! One of the Gulf Coast's top blues and southern soul festivals is returning to the Grounds for its 31st year.

  • Gulf Coast Chinese Lantern Festival | April 16-June 21

Dozens of larger-than-life light installations will be adorning the grounds of Bellingrath Gardens & Home this spring. Wander through the gardens to see various odes to Chinese and Gulf Coast culture.

  • Kites Over Mobile | April 18-19

One of our favorite spring events is returning to the USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park! Watch various kite demonstrations adorn the skies and more.

What's Happening for our Boss Partners in April!

Behind every growing business is a community that chose to support it—and right now, several of our Meet da’ Boss partners are seeing that support turn into real momentum.

Bailey 360 Security is expanding and actively hiring additional guards, with a new online application process making it easier than ever to join their team. They’ve also reached an important milestone by becoming BBB accredited, a reflection of their commitment to professionalism and trust in the communities they serve.

At LNJ Employer Services, growth looks like expanding their internal team to better meet the needs of local businesses. It’s a direct response to demand—and a sign that more companies are investing in doing things the right way.

Recently, Stacy Cooper, founder of LNJ conducted a training seminar for one of her clients. Hat's off to Dr. Mike Bucknell, (boss partner) for opening his office to accomodate this well-attended event and special thanks to RedBar for catering the breakfast.

Meanwhile, Lindsey and Waldo are closing out another busy tax season. Like many in their field, they’ve been running at full speed, and a well-earned break is just around the corner before they gear up for what’s next.

We chatted with Andrew Lee owner at Ronnie Lee's Automotive and he shared some exciting news for the repair shop however, you'll have to stay tuned to their social media for more details.

We also want to celebrate a past Boss Partner, Reney's Honey Butter, led by Meredith Simmerman, who is opening the doors to a brand-new location on Grelot Road on April 25th. It’s an exciting step forward and a reminder that growth doesn’t just happen—it’s built over time with consistency, support, and community behind it.

This is what it looks like when people choose local. Businesses grow. Teams expand. Opportunities open up. And it all starts with the simple decision to support the people and places right here at home.

Have a great April! ~ Charlsie
