The History Museum of Mobile resides in the old city hall building built in 1856. One of my favorite rooms to visit is the Rutherford Carriage Collection exhibit. This grouping displays posh transportation like the Rockaway carriage and simple rigs like the Irish Gig. It is interesting to see how creative and enterprising the craftsmen were when constructing these predecessors of modern transport. This Sunday is the monthly FREE day, so head over for a visit! I highly recommend A History of Mobile in 22 Objects!
Insider tip: History Museum of Mobile is excited to announce its next major exhibition, Dressing the Abbey, opening January 28, 2023. Dressing the Abbey weaves fashion, history, and popular culture into an exhibition featuring the wardrobe from Downton Abbey™, one of the most widely watched television dramas in the world. Last month's offering had some great tips for preparing for a recession.
Here are a few suggestions:
Take a hard look at your expenses and create a budget (and stick to it).
Limit your expenses, especially big ticket items. Cutting back on discretionary spending allows you to save some money.
Pay down high interest credit cards and/or refinance with a fixed loan.
Bolster your emergency fund.

WooHoo! We get an extra hour of sleep. Too bad my fur-kids can't tell time! Marcello and Jack will be ready for a walk as soon as the sun spills into our eastern facing windows.
