Fall weather has arrived and it is wonderful to be on the Gulf Coast! It is amazing how the cooler temperatures raise everyone's optimism about the future!
I spent some time at The Hickory Pit in Semmes, Alabama this week. Owner, Brandon Van Hook is the mayor-elect of this thriving community and is making the transition to his new role!
Meanwhile his beloved restaurant is in the capable hands of Front of the House Manager, Amber Whitehead & Back of the House Manager, Derek Smith. Both of them have been with The Pit since it reopened 11 years ago!
The Hickory Pit is well know for its selection of tasty hamburgers and daily lunch deals! This is southern comfort food and they are open 7 days a week! You can enjoy breakfast at 5AM with the morning regulars at 8919 Moffett Road. The Hickory Pit offers outdoor dining with tables in the front of the restaurant and picnic tables under the shady trees!
The "boss" doggies had a "spa day" last week at Apollo's Paws! I can't rave enough about the wonderful place that Rebecca Bunkley has opened on Grelot Road in Mobile.
Jack, the Shih Tzu, definitely has folks that he loves and she is one of them! Getting down on his level is one of the first things Rebecca did to build his comfort level at her place.

After I dropped the "kids" off at Rebecca's, I ventured next "door" to the Medal of Honor Park for a jog. It is nestled between Hillcrest & Knollwood and has great sidewalks for walkers, joggers & runners.
I was pleasantly surprised at how lovely this area really is. The park was very well maintained and people were enjoying the pleasant fall morning. There was even a gathering of ladies in lawn chairs having a meeting!
Amenities include a walking trail in the woods, a fenced in dog park, tennis courts, baseball field, soccer fields, kiddie playground, restrooms and more! I plan to return to this area often to soak up some Vitamin D and clear my mind!
On Friday, I got to spend some time with some of my favorite people in Mobile! The sleep experts, Carlos, James & Tina at Good Morning Mattress are a delightful crew! Have you ever been to a mattress or furniture store and felt intimidated by the aggressive sales people? You won't experience that at this Airport Blvd. showroom.

On Friday evening I ran into Ron Finch and his wife Rebecca at Domke Market's Wine Club Party. Ron is the owner of Enviro-Master of Mobile. His company is on the frontline of defense against disease for commercial properties.
He shared that business has been increasing rapidly as more and more companies are protecting their staff and customers against Co-Vid and other infectious diseases. Imagine all of the lives being saved because of the services his company offers!
I was impressed with the number of company owners that have contacted him and contracted his services. He has clients all along the Gulf Coast and is adding more staff to meet the needs of the community.

This Deep Elder lemonade is a new offering at Domke Market. My DD on Friday evening really enjoyed this flavorful drink! It is a blend of Elderflower and Lemonade! I must admit that I finished off the bottle! Yummy!
